E-Sports Coaching + Production

CHAPTER ONE + INTRO:

Two years coaching and building a competitive Rainbow Six Siege program at Santa Barbara City College, followed by esports broadcast production at the University of Utah. Two different roles, two different environments — both rooted in the same instinct to organize, coordinate, and elevate the experience for everyone involved.

Some Stats:

  • 5 — Person competitive roster

  • 2 — Years running the program

  • 3 — Disciplines — Coaching, Coordination & Production

What I did

·

What I did ·

  • Team Coaching & Competitive Development

Taught five players how to compete in Rainbow Six Siege at a serious level — developing strategies, reviewing gameplay, and building the team's competitive identity from the ground up.

  • Program Organization & Logistics

Coordinated in-person practice events at third party locations, managed team schedules, and kept communication flowing between players, administration, and league organizers.

  • Team Culture & Bonding

Organized team bonding events to build trust and cohesion — understanding that a team that connects off the server performs better on it.

CHAPTER TWO:

Three years of esports broadcast production at the University of Utah — joining a 20-30 person team to help bring competitive gaming events to life on Twitch. From casting and in-game camera work to managing show schedules and coordinating across the production team, this was where I learned what it means to keep a live production moving when everything is happening at once.

Some Stats:

  • 20–30 — Person production team

  • 3 years — Tenure at the U

  • Regional & Online — Event scope across Utah and the US

  • Twitch — Public broadcast platform

REFLECTION

From building a competitive program from scratch to producing broadcast-quality esports content — both experiences reinforced the same thing: great coordination and great production are what make the experience worth showing up for.
